Pakse, the capital of Champasak Province, sits where the Xe Don river meets the Mekong. It is the main gateway to Southern Laos and the starting point of every Watphou Travels tour.

Things to do in Pakse include the hilltop Golden Buddha at Wat Phou Salao, Wat Luang and other temples, the morning market, the Mekong riverside at sunset and nearby villages known for silk and cotton weaving.
